Coating means that the object is covered or enveloped with a tightly adhering substance.
Coating is primarily used to mask the taste or apply coloured protective films. In this process, tablets and capsules can be coated, for example. A coating is meant to prevent direct contact with the often bitter-tasting substances or guarantee a simplified ingestion of the product.
The coating can also be used as a protection against light and moisture.
